Airfare Prices Increased by 28% in July

According to data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), airfare was among the non-food items with the highest retail price increases in Istanbul during July. Airfares saw a 28% rise, making them one of the most notable price hikes outside the food category.

In the index covering 336 products, prices increased for 186 items while 38 saw a decrease. The rise in airfare ranked among the top increases, alongside strawberries (28.5%), lemons (25.1%), and doctor consultation fees (20%).

The sharp increase in airfare is attributed to the high travel demand during the summer season and the post-holiday period. A noticeable rise in domestic travel demand was observed in July, which directly impacted ticket prices.
